What do you get when you cross a Big Mac with a wrap? The Snack Wrap Mac.
The new concoction from McDonald's--a hybrid of its famous Big Mac and its recent hit the snack wrap-- was rolled out on a temporary basis this week throughout Canada. Oak Brook-based McDonald's has also been test-marketing the new item since late last year in 400 U.S. restaurants.

The McGangBang ranks up there in the holy pantheon of WTF. It's a sandwich made from a double cheeseburger and a McChicken sandwich — where you put an entire McChicken sandwich inside a double cheeseburger. It's a creative manipulation of existing menu items, and an exercise in frugality: taking two items off of the Dollar Menu and creating an entirely new sandwich for a total of $2.16. Truly, it's a sandwich that's more than the sum of its parts.

McDonald's new ad campaign is taking a non-too-subtle jab at Starbucks. Residents in Seattle, Washington, the birthplace of Starbucks, can now see approximately 140 McDonald's billboards emblazoned with "large is the new grande" or "four bucks is dumb."
In a statement released Thursday, McDonald's called it "a light-hearted, fun approach to our brand," aimed at promoting the company's McCafe coffee products. However, Starbucks is not finding the ad campaign funny.

Ouch.
Free cups of water at McDonald's are the next victim of the recession it seems. Reader Michael sent us this photo of a sign at McDonald's that proclaims the end to the free cup of water era. He says the cashier told him it was a "business decision."
It reads: "BOTTLED WATER ONLY. No Water Cups Available!"

How do you know whether or not McDonalds is still serving breakfast? Well, usually you just check your watch. If it's earlier than 10:30 am, they are. If it's later, they aren't. Pretty simple. But what if you don't have a watch? Don't worry — one Chicago McDonald's has you covered.

Well, here’s something that’s so ridiculous it couldn’t be made up. McDonald’s teamed up with MySpace to create a new jingle for the 40th anniversary of the Big Mac. The original song (two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce…) was created back in 1974. Over 1,000 user created songs and videos were submitted - the winner’s jingle becomes the official Big Mac song and will be featured in a McDonald’s Big Mac TV commercial.

A recent study at McGill University in Montreal, Canada proved that ghrelin, a hunger-inducing hormone in our gut, enhances the image of junk food's yumminess. The stimulant is naturally activated when hungry, causing quarter pounders and greasy pizza to look overwhelmingly tasty and unavoidable, as if we're junkies looking at crack.
